Iberia Group Rolls Out Direct Madrid to Ljubljana Flights to Boost Summer Trips

Tuesday, July 30, 2024

Iberia Group has inaugurated direct flights from Madrid to Ljubljana, offering over 2,500 seats to the Slovenian capital this summer. The route, operated by Air Nostrum’s Canadair Regional Jet 1000, provides two weekly flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tickets are available for purchase from 89 euros each way and travel agencies, with a return ticket required. The inaugural flight, IB8666, was celebrated by key officials including Robert Latin, Director General of the Directorate for Air and Maritime Transport at Slovenia’s Ministry of Infrastructure, and Janez Lapajne, Sales and Marketing Manager at Fraport Slovenija.

Janez Lapajne, Sales and Marketing Manager at Fraport Slovenija: “At Ljubljana Airport, we are happy to welcome Iberia and the new route to Madrid, with which we are importantly strengthening the network of our air connections and expanding the connectivity of the airport. As a new destination, Madrid offers a visit to the attractive Spanish capital, and the Madrid Airport, with its strong network of connections, is an excellent starting point, especially for trips to Latin America. The connection is certainly also interesting for Spanish guests, who can visit Slovenia with a direct flight and get to know its beauties. Lively Ljubljana, magical Bled with an island or the mysterious Postojna Cave are just a few popular points of Slovenia, which is otherwise famous as a boutique, green and diverse destination.”.

Customers can enjoy direct flights until September 5, 2024. The Canadair Regional Jet 1000 features 100 seats arranged in 25 rows of four. The new route allows passengers from Ljubljana to easily connect to Iberia’s other 141 destinations. The first flight took off at 12:10 Spanish time from Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas Airport and landed at Jože Pučnik Airport at 14:40 Slovenian time, greeted by a water arch.

Iberia’s Director of Sales for Europe, Middle East, and Asia, Carmen Giraud, highlighted the significance of this route, emphasizing the strengthened ties between Spain and Slovenia. This new connection offers passengers the chance to explore Ljubljana’s rich history, including landmarks like Ljubljana Castle, the Triple Bridge, and nearby Lake Bled.

Discover the charm of Ljubljana, a city with over 2000 years of history, and its blend of tradition and modernity, from historic sites to contemporary attractions like the Neboticnik skyscrapers.
